How is passwords of SAP Communication channels data stored internally?

The data must be saved in clear format somewhere because they will be used in the adapter. It is possible that it is using some SAP functionality to keep them encrypted, but it can be decrypted. In the directory API, it is not possible to fetch passwords of channels. But if you update the channels it is not necessary to use them. They are saved in some way. In adapter module section you also have the option to enter passwords. You do that by starting the attribute with pwd then the field turns into a password field with ****. Updating this is not possible with the directory API.

If you want to get access to the password in a migration check out UDO from Arnim  https://figaf.com/udo
